Kit is Rosie and Jonah Fenn’s son, and Poppy’s brother. He is seven in The Lamplighter’s Round. His bed fits beneath the sloping roof, with an old brown bear beside his pillow.

He wants to accompany Jonah on the round. When the ladder proves taller than he is, he asks for something else: their own lamp must be lit last, where he can watch from the window.

Jonah promises two taps on the lamp-post. Kit is sleepy when the signal comes, but he reaches the window in time to give the word.
