Before you settle in
Edward and Henry can manage the shop. Bartholomew has a journey to make: out of London, into a sleeping carriage, and west towards his autumn visit to Dorothea at the Copper Dormouse.
There is a compartment to settle into, Tobias Tallowick’s quiet attention, and a country station at the other end. Beyond Brindlecombe, the road passes the millpond and climbs towards Little Tallowmere.
