Little Tallowmere
A village green, pale stone, and an inn just beyond.
Little Tallowmere gathers around a small green. There is a bench beneath a tree with raised roots, a shop whose bell can be heard from outside, a post office and a school with a lime tree in its yard.
St Hilda’s has a square tower and a bell with a journey of its own. Below the orchard, the wharf has a stone edge, a low warehouse and a crane like a heron. A path leads uphill towards the Copper Dormouse.
You can spend a whole evening here without going far: a lantern show in the schoolroom, supper at the inn, or a little time at the window watching the weather arrive.
